Artist statement
Artists work is dealing with nearly virtual spaces, crystallised in the moment, they share with the viewer. The work is constantly changing with the movement of the viewer and the lighting conditions in the space around. The light is a co-creator of the work, as it projects shadows on the wall behind the drawing. The drawing, made on transparent plexiglass is very precise in the base, and unlike the shadows, that may seem raw and puzzling, appears very colourful, playful and rich.
The artist builds the space by drawing and layering images of nature and partially concealed architectural and urban structures. The works appear as seemingly floating objects, creating a subtle atmosphere marked by feelings of alienation, transience and fragility. The multilayered spatial visual memory, which the artist recreates in experimental graphic techniques and light projections, gives the impression of infinite depth, also fragility and confusion.
In this interplay of lines, surfaces, shadows and light the work evokes a sense of transience of the depicted architectural spaces, which are already being overgrown by an equally ever changing nature.
